OCC Names New Assistant Deputy Comptroller for National Banks in the OCC’s Cincinnati Field Office

CHICAGO—The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) named Celia McGrath as Assistant Deputy Comptroller of its Cincinnati Field Office.

In this role, Ms. McGrath will lead a team of examiners who supervise 30 community national banks and federal savings associations.

"Celia has a broad understanding of bank supervision gained through her experience as a national bank examiner for national banks and federal savings associations of all sizes," said Blake Paulson, OCC District Deputy Comptroller for the agency's the OCC's Chicago District Office. "Her knowledge of supervision and banking practices will serve the OCC and the federal banking system well."

Ms. McGrath began her career in 1983 in Austin, Texas, after graduating from Texas Christian University. She received her national bank examiner commission in 1987. In 2013 Ms. McGrath was commissioned to examine federal savings associations. Ms. McGrath held several positions while at the OCC including as a national bank examiner in Amarillo, Texas, and in Birmingham, Ala., where she led several bank examination teams. During her career, Ms. McGrath was employed on a corporate risk management team of a large depository institution. She also held a position in a family business. Ms. McGrath holds a key leadership role in a women's networking professional organization within the OCC. She is also a member of the OCC internal Hispanic professional organization.

Established in 1863, the OCC charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks and federal savings associations as well as federal branches of foreign banks. The OCC ensures that approximately1,500 national banks and federal savings associations across the nation operate in a safe and sound manner, provide fair access to financial services, treat customers fairly, and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
